Pieter Heykoop, born on October 11, 1960, in Dordrecht, has demonstrated musical talent from a young age, particularly in organ performance. Under the guidance of Bart van den Berg, he began his organ lessons at age six and further honed his skills with noted instructors such as Cor Visser, Jan Bonefaas, and the internationally renowned organist Ben van Oosten. By age 15, he was appointed the permanent organist for a Reformed Church in Dordrecht.

Since 1986, Heykoop has served as the organist for the Reformed Congregation in Yerseke, where he performs on a prestigious three-keyboard Van den Heuvel organ. His collaborative experience includes acting as a regular accompanist for Mannenkoor Ethan in Yerseke and later as the organist for Mannenkoor Elim in 's-Gravenpolder. Since 2009, he has been the designated organist for the Mixed Choir Yerseke and was appointed to the Chr. Urk Fisherman's Choir Crescendo in January 2015. That same year, he resumed his role as the permanent organist for Mannenkoor Ethan. His 40th anniversary as an organist was celebrated with notable recognition on January 2, 2016, at the Grote of St. Laurenskerk in Rotterdam.

As a sought-after organist for both domestic and international singing and organ nights, Heykoop has performed on impressive organs across various countries including France, England, Germany, Luxembourg, Scotland, Austria, the Czech Republic, Canada, the U.S.A., Israel, and South Africa.

Heykoop has produced numerous CDs featuring organ improvisations, sing-alongs, and choral arrangements. Many of his organ arrangements are published under his name and are available as sheet music. His playing is distinguished by its originality and depth of emotion.
